Restaurants

West End has a very dynamic restaurant scene! It is constantly changing but luckily more restaurants are opening then closing! To give credit to West End, there is a wide variety of types of food - Argentinean steak, Vietnamese, seafood, pizza and american grill- a lot of these have a large island feel.

A couple of things to remember though:

We are on an island and although food importing has become more efficient there are still occasional supply shortages of some types of food! We can’t get everything here but what we do have we make the most off.

Tax! Many of the restaurants charge tax on top of your meal- this is % for alcohol, % service…. It is often not advertised on the menu so just ask if you’re unsure!

Obviously different places are good for different meals so I will go through in that order.  It is not a complete list, just the places I think deserve a mention.

Breakfast

Lighthouse. Tucked in behind Mavis and Dixies, this is a great option right on the water

The Beach House. A yellow building on the entrance to West End, another great restaurant with a killer view.

Rudy's  near rotisserie chicken on the map, does a nice island breakfast

LUNCH

Sundowners - On the beach, great selection of Bar food

Lighthouse Restaurant - They do a very nice Fish Tacos, tasty char grilled fish with plenty of fresh salad and tomato salsa, one serving is enough for two people.  It is closed at present as it burnt down.

Coconut Grill - I eat lunch here most days.  The island lunch for six dollars is a good hearty meal.  Meat and two veg, just like my mum told me.  It is above coconut tree divers.

The Noodle Bar - Close to Fosters, quick tasty noodles in a variety of sauces.

The Shark Cave - Sandwiches and Pizzas, close to Tylls Dive

Argentinean Grill - A good restaurant in a nice setting.  Not much choice for vegetarians, but the best steak selection in town.  My favorite is the fillet mignon, but many prefer the tenderloin.  Also good salads and seafood.  I like this place.

Rocket Burger - In case you need that fast food hit!

Many of the BBQs you see on the street are very good value and totally safe.  Keith has one outside woodies groceries on a Sunday, the pork is my favourite.

Dinner

Tong's Thai Cuisine, in the centre of West End, waterside dining, higher end on the price, but if you love Thai food...

Le Bistro -  above West End Divers, has a nice variety and is good value for money .  I regularly eat there.  Especially fun when they have live music.  Recommended

Ooloonthoo - an Indian near Woody's Supermarket. Expensive, but worth every penny.  This is WORLD CLASS Indian food.  If you like curry you can't miss this place.

Rotisserie Chicken - A little way past Sueno del mar towards West Bay.  This place is very good value if you want tasty food and lots of it.

Coconut Grill - A good choice when the power in West End is out, as it has a generator!  A nice selection on the menu, I prefer it as a lunch place though.

Half Moon Bay Cabins.  In the corner of Half Moon Bay.  A nice setting, very reasonable food.

Sundowners - is perfect for a light meal - pay in lempira they have an awful exchange rate!

Pinocchio's - Up the hill behind the Pura Vida.  I really like the secluded setting and they do very good food.

Baliadas - At night there is a lady who cooks baliadas on an open fire next to twisted.  She has chicken or beef and they a superb, don't miss them. 20 lemps each.
