Where to stay:

UDC's accomodation at Mango Inn is usallu my first choice when i am over on Utila.

If you are doing a dive course and want cheap - ask to stay in the accommodation of whatever dive shop you choose.  I think Cross Creek has the nice rooms, Altons looks like a whole lot of fun as well and has a great location on the waterfront.

If Hot water is important, go for Rubis place half way down the main road, near mermaids and the cinema.  At $18/21 a night for a room with two double beds, fan and hot water it is great value.

Freddy's place is another very good value option, you will find that at the far end of the road past Utila Dive Center.

To Eat

Evening

Dave's - is up a red brick road near cross creek. the path the  cross creek accommodation is up.  For a really large, balanced meal this place is hard to beat.  You should expect to pay around 140lps including a couple of beers.  Get there before seven unless you want a limited menu and long wait.  BBQ'd food with good veg.

RJ's On a Wednesday, and Friday -  Up past UDC towards the Bridge over the creek. Even better BBQ'd food than Daves About the same price.

Mango Inn - Great PIzza, expect to spend 130lps per pizza, on the road directly up the hill from the dock.

Bundu Cafe - Halfway up the strip towards UDC - great astmosphere, really nice place, good value.  I eat there ALOT whe i am in Utila - Breakfast Lunch and Dinner!

Tranquila Bar Restaurant - If you were coming off the ferry turn left towrds Deep Blue and Bay Islands College of Diving.

Munchies has a nice salad bar.

The BBQ at Utila Dive Centre on Thursday nights is a must for the budget conscious traveler.

Mariposa Cafe easily seen from the Ferry dock has a very imaginative menu.

Lunch

Mermaids - Halfway up the strip towards UDC - Great big plate of food for 78lps. I don't recommend dinner there - the food has been sitting out for too long by then!

Bars

Treetanic cannot be missed, when you visit be sure to walk around the whole place - it is much bigger than it appears at first.  Be sure not to miss the bathroom!

Tranquila Bar - If you were coming off the ferry turn left towrds Deep Blue and Bay Islands College of Diving.  This is the first one you want to go to.

CocoLoco - Virtually next to Tranquila, just before Deep Blue Divers.  People tend to go there from Tranquila

The bar at UDC is a fun place for sunset drinks

Bundu Cafe is always happening.

A great band plays at El Castillo down towards Sandy Bay on Saturday nights from about 9pm.
